Come Monday

Jimmy Buffett can think what he wants. Personally, I hate Mondays.
Not because the day itself is bad, but more because it’s just so hard to get going again after the weekend.
It’s funny how time changes something like that. Once upon a time, the younger me handled weekends without a problem. In college I worked in a bar, hung out with friends, attended sporting events, and generally relaxed. The weekends seemed to last forever, and I knew come Monday that it was a short week (the “weekend” usually began on Thursday night). On Mondays, I was generally well rested and ready for the week.
But not anymore…
This weekend I got my hair cut Friday night and played with the kids. Saturday, I worked all day. And all night. I started around noon Saturday and worked pretty much straight through to 7am (yes… A.M.) Sunday morning. I then slept it off until nearly 3pm, got up and showered, then sat down to eat junkfood and watch the Superbowl with Emily and the kids.
And just like that… weekend over.
And what do I have to show for all that time? Well, I got to play with the kids some, but otherwise I have a still-not-completed project, a sore shoulder, and a bitter reminder in my head of “what could have been” had my Colts not choked against the Patriots (again).
On top of that, my right eye keeps getting blurry. Probably because I stayed up too late last night (until nearly 1:30am) loading CD’s into iTunes for my new iPod. It probably took me an hour to load 5 CDs. At this rate, it’s going to take me forever to get them all loaded.
But hey… tomorrow’s Tuesday. And Tuesday’s now are like Monday’s used to be, back in “the day”. And this week will fly since I have a meeting tomorrow night, guitar lessons Wednesday night, something else Thursday night, and then probably a trip to Evansville over the weekend.
And then… it’ll be Monday again. What a vicious cycle.
