Lots o’Stuff

Just a couple of updates today…First, a “Week 1″ update on my workout resolution: I managed to get in five last week, which was a “short” week for me. You could say I actually only got in three, but two days counted as two because I did both upper body and cardio on those days. My total exercise time was 3 hours, and I managed to burn through 1965 calories (a few short of my goal). I sort of ate too much over the weekend. We had some REALLY good pizza on Friday night, and then my mom cooked for us Saturday with a few of my favorite foods. I’m back at it this week, though… worked out upper body and cardio again yesterday, spending 35 minutes on the exercise bike. Today I’m supposed to run 40 minutes, so I guess I’ll do that shortly.
The guitar lessons are going well, too. I had my second lesson last week, where I worked on the notes on the 2nd string, as well as finger-picking “Jingle Bells”, which is kind of complicated. It’s tricky to play both the chords and the notes at the same time. Should move on to the notes on the third string this week, as well as maybe the next set of chords. Unfortunately, the tip of my index finger on my left hand split open (not sure whether from playing or dry skin), so it’s kind of sore. I haven’t practiced like I wanted to this week.
I Saw this morning where Apple has unveiled their iPhone. This looks really awesome, and I’d love to replace my ipod and phone with one device like this. However, there’s no way I’m justifying the cost of replacing them with this device ($450-550) until both of my current devices croak. That cost apparently includes a 2-year contract, but seeing as how they are partnered with Cingular, there’s not telling how much you’ll pay for bandwidth, etc.
Finally, a note to Denver, CO — QUIT HOGGING ALL THE SNOW! I can’t believe we haven’t had so much as a small ground-covering of snow yet this year. It’s crazy. All we get is rain, and the temps have been in the 50s and 60s! We even had one day last week where the temp pushed 70°! It’s winter — I want snow! On top of that, my son has no collective memory of snow, so he’s really excited about it. He seems to think a snowman is coming to visit when it snows. I guess he’s watched Frosty one time too many. =)
That’s all for now!
