I did it!

Well, it took some time, but I managed to import ALL of my entries from previous blogs to this one! That means anything I’ve written going back to 2003 is now right here for your reading pleasure. There are actually a few things I’ve written which I’m proud of, so I encourage you to take a look back.
On the surface, this should have been an easy job. But when I logged into my old Movabletype blog (v2.661), I found there had been over 1000 trackback/ping spams! Every time I tried to export the entries, it chewed up my CPU beyond use, eventually requiring me to kill the job. Even if I HAD managed to export the entries, I certainly did NOT want to import the Spam to this blog. I finally managed to track down the right MySQL job to batch-delete all trackback/ping entries (”delete from mt_tbping where tbping_blog_id=n;” no quotes, ”n” is 1-30). I had to flush the cache first, then execute the job. What a mess. After that, the export worked very quickly, and the import to WP was even more smooth! I had to go through and re-enable comments on most of the posts and classify them into my new categories, but it was pretty seamless. So far, WP is 10x better that MT. And I’ll stick to that, as long as I don’t start getting spammed to death!
Next up is to update the Gallery on this site with all the pix I had on the Windows site and rename them accordingly. Not difficult, just time consuming.
